The first big public event I recall was discussion of the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby.
That happened when I was 5 but it was probably discussed by my parents and friends for
years after that. I remember fearing being kidnapped!
Other big event were the explosion of the Hindenberg zeppelin 1937 age 10.
And Dec. 7 1941 age 14 Pearl Harbor attack the start of US in WW2.
